In nearly 1,000 pages, Project 2025 provides detailed analyses and urges specific actions to impose a comprehensively extreme plan across the nation. As explained in a recent report, implementation of Project 2025 would concentrate unprecedented power in the hands of the incoming President of the United States. In this respect, it should be remembered that the incoming President has been impeached twice, has been convicted of committing numerous felonies, has declared he will be a dictator on day one when President again, has announced his intent to exact revenge against his political opponents and other critics, has publicly encouraged insurrectionist conduct, and has called for the use of military forces domestically.

A key part of the effort to limit core freedoms and vital protections through Project 2025 involves undercutting the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies that protected fundamental rights and preserved the rule of law during the Biden administration. These agencies have investigated thoroughly and prosecuted aggressively violations of labor & employment law and civil rights statutes, including cases of retaliation, discrimination, harassment, wage theft, and similar abuses of power. The relevant law enforcement agencies include the United States Department of Labor, the Federal Trade Commission, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the United States Department of Justice.

Given the serious threats posed by the new administration as it seeks to impose the Project 2025 action plan, leadership at the state level is more important than ever. Progressive governors, such as Governor Tim Walz, and progressive attorneys general, such as Attorney General Keith Ellison, exemplify the combination of courage and compassion that these difficult times require. Such state leaders, working in tandem with principled private attorneys, organizations dedicated to social and economic justice, and people of conscience generally, provide needed hope and resources to pursue a better way forward.
